Our goal is to assist as many qualified industry members as possible each and every year. BEAP grants seek to provide immediate cash financial assistance for those in the hospitality industry (bartender, barback, bar server, or otherwise engaged in the service, preparation, manufacture, or distribution of alcoholic beverages) who encounter temporary, emergent financial hardship due to unforeseen and/or catastrophic life events such as an accident, acute medical diagnosis, or localized wind, water, earth, or fire-related natural disasters.

The following circumstances do not qualify for a BEAP Grant:

Loss of work or wages (being fired or unable to find a new job), decreased work shifts, being behind on bills, undocumented domestic violence, disconnected utilities, or death of a family member outside of a parent, child, or spouse.

Operation Hope

Details

Young adults and youth who receive money management education when the principles are most relevant to their stage of life are more likely to take those skills into adulthood. Without intentionally exposing young children to financial concepts and educating pre-teens and teens on proper money management practices, they will inevitably pick up poor money habits.

Description of Services:

Young adults and youth who receive money management education when the principles are most relevant to their stage of life are more likely to take those skills into adulthood. Without intentionally exposing young children to financial concepts and educating pre-teens and teens on proper money management practices, they will inevitably pick up poor money habits. We don’t want to leave our youth’s future financial management skills to chance.

Operation HOPE offers programs for both school-age youth as well as young adults so we can provide age-appropriate financial education during a young person’s formative years.

Hand Up Cars (Jewish Family Service)

Details

The Ways to Work program at Jewish Family Service provides low-interest car loans and education to credit-challenged, working families. Families with their own car enjoy a greater quality of life. They are no longer solely dependent on public transportation for commuting to work, dropping a child off at daycare, or running errands.

Description of Services:
For families who rely on public transportation to get to work and school, having access to a reliable personal vehicle can be a game changer. Our Hand Up Cars program helps credit-challenged parents access low-interest auto loans and financial education, so they can rebuild their credit, increase their earning potential, spend more quality time with family, and be more active in their communities.

Ways to Work provides:

  • Financing (up to $10,000, at 12% interest, over a 5-year period) to buy a reliable used car
  • Financial and car education classes covering budgeting, banking, credit scores, finding the right car, responsibilities of car ownership, and car maintenance.
  • One-on-one coaching to help with goal setting, credit repair, and creating a realistic action plan for repaying your loan
  • Improved credit score once the loan is repaid
  • Personalized connection to other JFS services and other community resources
